2018 Summer Internships
The Northwest Indiana Oilmen are a pre-professional baseball club that is a member of the Midwest Collegiate League and plays its home games at Oil City Stadium in Whiting, Ind. The team is seeking motivated college students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in the sports industry through a summer internship within a sports organization.
Community Relations Intern
This individual will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience by assisting with Oilmen Kids Camps, scheduling and coordinating national anthem singers and other special guests, promoting the Oilmen in the community, making community appearances with the team mascot and helping add to the overall fan experience at Oil City Stadium.
This individual should have the ability to take quality sports action photos. The photography intern will have the opportunity to build his or her portfolio by taking photos at all Oilmen home games and handling headshots for the team website. Prior experience shooting athletic events is preferred.
Graphic Design Intern
This individual should be familiar with graphic design and have the ability to use various design programs. The designer will assist in the team's graphics, which are used for promotion and marketing purposes.
Gameday Operations Intern
This individual will assist in running the gameday operation and have the opportunity to gain experience as to how to run an athletic event as an event manager. This intern will help schedule and coordinate gameday staff, assist in enhancing fans' ballpark experience and assist in coordinating special events throughout the season.
Web Stream Production Intern
New for 2018, the Oilmen are seeking an individual interested in gaining experience in TV and video stream production. This individual will serve as the producer for the live video stream of Oilmen games, which air on the Oilmen Broadcasting Network.
This individual will work with the Oilmen broadcasting and media relations team to assist in providing quality coverage of the Oilmen throughout the season. The intern will have an on-air role for one inning as a color commentator during Oilmen broadcasts, and will make contributions to the pre and post game shows. The intern will also have the opportunity to fill in on the Oilmen Broadcasting Network for select games. The intern will also assist in writing stories for NWIOilmen.com. Prior broadcasting/media relations experience is required. This individual will report to Oilmen Director of Communications Brandon Vickrey. The internship provides quality demo and resume experience and has served as a stepping stone for young broadcasters.
Interns must provide their own transportation to Whiting, Indiana. The internship will run from middle of May to early August. Interns will able to obtain college credit from their college or university at the completion of the internship.
