Oilmen to Hold Children's Baseball Clinic

07/13/2013 1:12 PM -

Whiting, Ind. – July 12, 2013 – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen of the Midwest Collegiate League will be hosting a free baseball clinic sponsored by BP on Monday, July 22 at Oil City Stadium. The clinic will start at 9 a.m. and last until noon. The clinic will be for children ages five and older. Any child participating in the clinic will be required to bring proper baseball equipment.

Former Chicago White Sox slugger Ron Kittle and Northwest Indiana Oilmen players will be on hand to instruct the young players.  Kittle, a co-owner of the Oilmen, turned in a stellar rookie campaign with the White Sox hitting .254 with 35 home runs and 100 RBIs to earn an All-Star selection and American League Rookie of the Year honors.

The free children’s clinic provides the Northwest Indiana Oilmen with an opportunity to thank the supporters that cheer them on throughout the season.

“It’s going to be a fun day of baseball for our young fans,” Oilmen General Manager Jim Taipalus said.  “We’re very thankful that BP is helping us give kids a chance to play at Oil City Stadium.  This clinic is a great way for us to give back to the Northwest Indiana community.”
