Oilmen Release 2015 Schedule

Whiting, Ind. – March 5, 2015 – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen of the Midwest Collegiate League have announced their schedule for the 2015 season.

The team will play 47 regular season games, 44 of which will come against MCL opponents. The Oilmen will also play their annual Veterans Benefit Game, this year against the U.S Military All-Stars with the date yet to be determined. In addition, the team has two nonleague games against the Fort Wayne Jackers.

The Midwest Collegiate League consists of six teams, with the Michigan City Lakers joining in place of the Chicago Zephyrs. The Lexington Snipes are back for their third season, the Joliet Admirals will hold their second season since moving from Rockford and sixth season overall, the DuPage County Hounds enter their fourth year and the two-time defending league champion Southland Vikings are set to embark on their sixth season. The Oilmen are in their fourth year since joining the MCL as an expansion team in 2012 and have made the playoffs and finished with a winning record in each of the last three seasons.

This year, the MCL schedule is divided into homestands and stretches of road games. The Oilmen will start the year with six straight away games, beginning with opening day on Sunday, May 31 at Joliet. The Oilmen will play Michigan City in a league game for the first time on June 5 after playing the Lakers as a nonleague opponent each of the last two seasons.

A five-game homestand begins on Wednesday, June 10 as the Oilmen welcome the Admirals at 7 p.m. They play their first-ever game against the Fort Wayne Jackers on Saturday, June 13 at Oil City Stadium.

The Midwest Collegiate League All-Star Game will be held at Oil City Stadium on Tuesday, July 7 at 7 p.m. The league’s brightest stars will be on display in a game that attracts the attention of major league scouts.

The regular season concludes as the Oilmen host the Snipes on Friday, July 31 with the playoffs slated to take place the first week of August.
