Northwest Indiana Oilmen Advance to 2012 MCL Championship

 

With a 10-6 victory over the DuPage County Hounds on Wednesday at Benedictine Stadium, the Northwest Indiana Oilmen advanced to the 2012 Midwest Collegiate League championship.

NWI’s Jack Cinoman’s strong game at the plate and on the hill helped the Oilmen complete a two game sweep of the Hounds, in this best-of-three series. Cinoman contributed three RBIs on four hits, with a double in the first inning, singles in the third and fourth, and a triple in the seventh. On the hill, Cinoman held the DuPage County Hounds hitless in 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out two.

Danny Britt recorded the win. Britt allowed four runs over six innings, striking out four, walking two and giving up nine hits. DuPage County’s Brett Maus was the game's losing pitcher. Maus allowed six runs in four innings, walking four, and striking out two. The Northwest Indiana Oilmen easily handled the DuPage County Hounds pitching as six batters combined for fifteen hits, eight RBIs and ten runs scored.

The Oilmen move into the championships against the DeKalb County Liners who advanced with their series win over the Southland Vikings.  Game one of the three game series will be held on Friday at Founders Field in DeKalb. The series then moves to Oil City Stadium on Saturday, August 4th for game two.
