Oilmen Add Seven Pitchers to Roster

Whiting, Ind. – May 6, 2021 – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen continued their roster reveal on Thursday by announcing the addition of seven pitchers to the squad.

Right-handed pitchers Zach Westphal (Wabash Valley / Chesterton, Ind.), Nick Heiden (Webster / Minooka, Ill.), Mason Kasprisin (St. Charles CC / Joliet, Ill.), Tom Egan (Iowa Western) and Harrison Dubois (Indiana Wesleyan / New Lenox, Ill.) as well as left-handed pitchers Noah Mathias (Roosevelt / LaPorte, Ind.) and Tom Conzemius (Quincy / Deerfield, Ill.) will compete for the Oilmen this summer. The team announced eight other pitchers on Wednesday and will continue to add to its pitching staff in the coming weeks.

Mathias was a 2019 MCL All-Star with the Crestwood Panthers, finishing the season with 17 2/3 innings over five games including three starts while racking up 20 strikeouts. He returned to the MCL in 2020 and pitched for the Joliet Generals, posting a 2-1 record over seven games, five starts. Mathias logged 31 2/3 innings for Joliet while boasting a 2.56 ERA, striking out 35 and walking 16. The LaPorte High School product is a sophomore at Roosevelt.

Heiden is also a returnee to the MCL after pitching for the Southland Vikings last season. He went 3-1 over nine outings out of the Southland bullpen, logging 23 2/3 innings while registering 16 strikeouts. The St. Laurence High School product was a member of the 2020 SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team and has made four appearances this season at Webster. He was the St. Laurence Pitcher of the Year as a high school senior and was a two-time Second Team All-Chicago Catholic League honoree.

A freshman at Wabash Valley, Westphal is a local to Northwest Indiana who played his prep baseball at Chesterton High School. He owns an 0.84 ERA at Wabash, where he has earned a win and a save over six appearances spanning 10 2/3 innings.

Kasprisin is a sophomore at St. Charles CC after graduating from Joliet Township High School. He has made nine appearances this year at St. Charles and nailed down one save while striking out 13 and compiling a 2.16 ERA.

Egan is a senior at Mount Carmel High School and will acclimate to the collegiate game while playing for the Oilmen before making his way to Iowa Western. Dubois is a freshman at Indiana Wesleyan after graduating from Lincoln-Way Central. He has logged 4 1/3 innings over three outings this spring as a rookie. Conzemius began his collegiate career at Quincy in 2020 after graduating from Deerfield High School.

The Oilmen will begin announcing the team’s position players in the coming days.
