Whiting, Ind. – July 18, 2019 – The Midwest Collegiate League office has announced the cancellation of several games across the league this weekend due to the heat wave that is expected to hit the Chicagoland area.
With forecasted highs of nearly 100 degrees and the heat index expected to reach three figures, the league has called off games for precautionary reasons to look out for the safety of players, coaches, umpires, spectators and staff members.
The Northwest Indiana Oilmen are involved in two of the impacted games – a contest against the Southland Vikings slated to take place on Friday evening and a scheduled Saturday matinee against the Crestwood Panthers.
The Oilmen will be back in action on Monday as the U.S. Military All-Stars visit Oil City Stadium for a patriotic display of America and America’s pastime. For more details on the matchup with the barnstorming team comprised of active duty service men or to purchase tickets, visit NWIOilmen.com. The first pitch of Monday’s contest is slated for 7:10 p.m. For those who cannot attend, Brandon Vickrey and Blake Toman will have the call on the Oilmen Broadcasting Network, which is available via Facebook Live.
