Whiting, Ind. – Jan. 8, 2019 – The defending MCL champion Northwest Indiana Oilmen will begin their quest to repeat when the summer season starts anew on Tuesday, May 28.
The Oilmen announced a 50-game league schedule on Tuesday with the slate beginning in late May and running through Sunday, Aug. 4. The regular season schedule, which features 26 home dates at Oil City Stadium in Whiting, Ind., will be followed by the MCL Playoffs.
The Oilmen begin the season with a seven-game road swing before cranking up the home portion of the campaign. Opening Day will be a rematch of the 2018 MCL Championship Series as the Oilmen visit DuPage County to take on the Hounds on May 28. That will also be the matchup for the home opener when the 2019 Oilmen make their Northwest Indiana debut on Thursday, June 6 at 7:10 p.m.
The 2019 MCL All-Star Game will take place at Oil City Stadium on July 13 as the league’s brightest stars will once again be on display. The final regular season home game will be on Saturday, Aug. 3 against Crestwood before the team rounds out the regular season on Sunday, Aug. 4 at DuPage County.
After sweeping through the 2018 MCL playoffs to earn their third league championship in 2018, the Oilmen will be under the direction of first-year manager Kevin Franchetti this season. The new manager brings with him a championship pedigree as he managed the Southland Vikings to the 2017 MCL title after playing for the league-champion Oilmen in the team’s inaugural season of 2012.
