Whiting, Ind. – June 5, 2018 – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen opened up the home portion of the 2018 season on Tuesday night at Oil City Stadium, but it was the DuPage County Hounds who went home happy, extending their strong start to the campaign.

It’s Opening Night at Oil City Stadium as the Northwest Indiana Oilmen begin their seventh season of baseball in Whiting. The Oilmen are 3-3 all-time in home openers, most recently suffering a 7-4 loss to the Southland Vikings on Opening Night a year ago. The Oilmen and Hounds have both been members of the MCL since the two teams began in 2012, but this marks the first time the two squads have faced off in the Oilmen home opener.

Bloomington, Ill. – June 3, 2018 – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen experienced a hint of déjà vu on Sunday afternoon at O’Neal Park, as a rocky inning in the middle of the game caused an early lead to evaporate for the second consecutive day.

Joliet, Ill. – June 2, 2018 – A Northwest Indiana Oilmen offense that had been quiet throughout the first week of the season exploded for 12 runs on 15 hits on Saturday afternoon at Wayne L. King Junior Field, but this time it was the pitching and defense that didn’t do its part for the Oilmen.

The Oilmen will begin a new head-to-head series on Saturday as they face off with the Joliet Generals for the first time. NWI enters the contest looking to avoid a three-game skid, while the Generals are fresh off their first win and have hopes of building that momentum into a .500 mark through four games.
