Whiting, Ind. – May 28, 2021 – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen finalized a trio of roster additions on Friday in advance of the team’s season-opening doubleheader against the Joliet Generals on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Benedictine University.

The Oilmen welcome catcher/infielder Aaron Cook (Roosevelt / Hammond), left-handed pitcher Jacob Bimbi (Wabash Valley / Crystal Lake, Ill.) and right-handed pitcher Nick Miketinac (Butler / St. John, Ind.) for the 2021 Midwest Collegiate League season.

Miketinac was a Chicago Catholic League Blue First Team all-conference choice at Mount Carmel High School, where he led the league in both wins and ERA (2.76). The righty was second in the league with 50 strikeouts in 55 innings of work en route to Mount Carmel “King of the Hill” honors. The honor roll student played in the Chicago White Sox ACE program.

Miketinac saw action in four games at Butler as a true freshman this spring, making one start. He logged 7 1/3 innings and struck out five while issuing three walks.

Another Northwest Indiana native, Cook graduated from Hammond Academy before playing collegiately at Robert Morris and Roosevelt. He appeared in 22 games and made 21 starts at Roosevelt this season, launching three home runs and driving in 11.

Bimbi just completed his freshman year at Wabash Valley, which finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA rankings for the third consecutive year. The southpaw is a 2020 graduate of Crystal Lake South.

After starting the team’s 10th anniversary season with five straight road games, the Oilmen will open the home portion of the season on Tuesday, June 8 at 7:10 p.m. against the Crestwood Panthers.
