Eleven Oilmen Named to MCL All-Star Game07/13/2021 8:38 AM - Whiting, Ind. – July 13, 2021 – The hosts will have no shortage of representation when the Midwest Collegiate League All-Star Game takes place at Oil City Stadium on Tuesday, July 20 at 7:10 p.m. The MCL announced rosters for the annual midsummer classic on Tuesday as the Oilmen boast 11 All-Star selections. Seven Oilmen position players will take part in the All-Star Game: Christian Williams (Michigan State / Carmel, Ind.), Jared Comia (Illinois / Dyer, Ind.), Kevin McCormick (Evansville / Orland Park, Ill.), Zamaurion Hatcher (WVC / Michigan / Chicago, Ill.), Casey Kmet (Notre Dame / Arlington Heights, Ill.), Jacob Ferry (Morehead State / Aurora, Ill.) and AJ Wright (Northwood / Griffith, Ind.). In addition, four Oilmen pitchers will participate in the annual showcase: Nick Miketinac (Butler / St. John, Ind.), Jack Guzek (Iowa / Manhattan, Ill.), Jacob Bimbi (Wabash Valley / Crystal Lake, Ill.) and Matt Lelito (Kankakee / Saint John, Ind.). Kmet has posted a .389/.500/1.056 slash line in five games since joining the team. He has slugged three home runs and totaled five extra-base hits while racking up nine RBIs and seven runs scored. Wright is hitting .323 with a .429 on-base percentage, leads the team with 21 hits and ranks second on the team with 11 stolen bases in 16 games. Ferry is the team leader with 12 steals to go along with his club-best 15 RBIs plus a .360 batting average and .493 on-base percentage in 14 games. Hatcher owns a .400/.500/.620 slash line in 12 games, is one of two players on the team with 20 hits and has 14 RBIs and 14 runs scored. McCormick owns a robust .389 average in a limited sample size since joining the team. Comia has scored six runs in just five games while reaching base at a .478 clip. Williams holds a .400 on-base percentage and has driven in eight in 11 games. Bimbi has not surrendered an earned run in 12 1/3 innings while striking out nearly two per inning with 24 total strikeouts against just six walks. The lefty holds a 4-0 record in four appearances (three starts). Guzek boasts a 1.73 ERA and has won every start he’s made (5-0) while striking out 40 and walking just one. Miketinac holds a 2.20 ERA and won the MCL Pitcher of the Week Award this past week after starting an eventual combined no-hitter. He has struck out 24 in 16 1/3 innings. Lelito owns a 1.93 ERA with a 1-0 mark over five games (three starts), striking out 25 in 14 innings. The MCL East All-Stars will be managed by Oilmen skipper TJ Marik. The Oilmen join the Crestwood Panthers and Southland Vikings in comprising the East roster, while the West All-Stars are comprised of the Joliet Generals, Chicago American Giants and MCL Minutemen. The game will be carried on the Oilmen Broadcasting Network, available via JED-TV and AM 1230 WJOB.
