Oilmen Announce Pitchers for 2023 Season Whiting, Ind. – May 24, 2023 – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen have announced the pitchers who will comprise the roster for the 2023 campaign.
R.J. Bergren (Illinois-Springfield), LHP R.J. Bergren is a left-handed pitcher coming to the Oilmen from Mount Carmel High School. Bergren is committed to playing for the University of Illinois-Springfield. In the 2023 season for Mount Carmel, he started eight games and earned a 2.82 ERA. He also had a win-loss record of 61 with 47 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.
Aaron Buckholtz (College of Lake County), LHP Aaron Buckholtz is a left-handed pitcher coming to the Oilmen from Lyons Township High School. Buckholtz is committed to playing for the College of Lake County next spring.
Erik Carlson (Carthage College), RHP Erik Carlson is a right-handed pitcher who comes to the Oilmen from Carthage College. Carlson played for the Crestwood Panthers of the Northern League last year. With the Panthers, he appeared in nine games of which he started seven. He had a win-loss record of 3-2 along with a 5.70 ERA. He played 41 Innings and struck out 37 batters.
Brandon Laux (Eastern Kentucky), RHP Brandon Laux is a right-handed pitcher who rejoins the Oilmen from Eastern Kentucky University. In his first year with Eastern Kentucky, he appeared in one game.. Before Eastern Kentucky, Laux attended Kirkwood University with 14 strikeouts in 12.1 innings.
Tyler Nemtuda (Florida Darlington Tech), LHP Tyler Nemtuda is a left-handed pitcher coming to the Oilmen from Florida Darlington Tech. Nemtuda was a redshirt freshman and previously played for Portage High School. While at Portage, he appeared in three games and won two of them. Nemtuda also had 19 strikeouts in 12 innings.
Jack Niekrasz (Illinois Institute of Technology), RHP Jack Niekrasz is returning for another year with the Oilmen. Last season for the Oilmen he appeared in 14 games and won four. He also struck out 15 batters in 25 1/3 innings. With Illinois Institute of Technology in 2023, he posted 15 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings.
Tanner Sobkoviak (Kankakee Community College), RHP Tanner Sobkoviak is a right-handed pitcher coming to the Oilmen from Kankakee Community College. He has recorded 38 strikeouts through 33 1/3 innings in his Career for Kankakee CC
Jack West (Triton College) RHP Jack West is a right-handed pitcher joining the Oilmen from Triton College. West has previously played in the Northern League for the Crestwood Panthers. With the Panthers, he appeared in 10 games and won two. He also struck out nine batters in 11 1/3 Innings for the Panthers. |
