Oilmen extend win streak to fourWhiting, Ind. – June. 8,2023 – Early on in the game, it looked to be a pitchers’ duel, but Logan Anderson had something to say about it. Anderson did a lot of work for the Oilmen in their 5-2 win over the Lake County Corn Dogs on Thursday night at Oil City Stadium. Anderson launched a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. His run extended the Oilmen lead to two. “That is the advantage and benefit of having a guy who’s been in the league multiple years,” Oilmen manager Adam Enright said. “He is a very seasoned, very experienced college player who at this point in his career is able to slow the game down in those kinds of moments.” On the mound, both the Corn Dogs and Oilmen starters were able to find their groove early. Brandon Laux pitched four shutout innings while striking out six. Laux would be relieved of his duties after allowing his only run on the night. Corn Dogs pitcher Dylan Matusak had a strong showing on the mound in the first four innings as well. Matusak did not allow a run or walk in his four full innings. “The pitching from both teams all around was really refreshing to see that the whole game,” Enright said. “I think the league needs more of that where there are exciting, low-scoring games.” With Thursday’s win over the Corn Dogs, the Oilmen improve to 4-3. The Oilmen will face the Indiana Panthers on Friday night. The Oilmen won their first game of the year against the Panthers and will look for win number five. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. at Oil City Stadium in Whiting, Ind. |
