The bats were hot as the Northwest Indiana Oilmen outsted the Indiana Panthers 20-16 on Sunday. The Oilmen collected 11 hits, while the Panthers had seven. The game had unusual circumstances at the start, as the initial twin-bill had to be adjusted to a single game played at a neutral site in Griffith due to scheduling concerns.
The Oilmen rallied for the victory despite trailing 4-0 in the first.
The Panthers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. The Panthers first got on the board when Bryce Gelarden singled, scoring two runs.
Our Oilmen scored two runs in the top of the second on a home run to left field by Emmanuel Scott.
A single by Dom Owens extended the Panthers Panthers lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the second inning.
The Northwest Indiana Oilmen captured the lead, 8-6, in the top of the fifth when an error scored one run, an error scored one run, and Ryan Henschel doubled, scoring two runs.

The Northwest Indiana Oilmen accumulated 11 hits in the game. Scott led the Oilmen with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. They went 2-for-3 on the day. John Wendling led the Oilmen with three hits in four at bats.
Gelarden, Owens, and Luke Fassoth each drove in two runs for the Panthers. Owens led the Panthers with two hits in three at bats.
Emmanuel Scott was selected as the White Castle Player of the Game after a 2-3 performance with 3 RBI. Scott also left the yard with his first home run of the year. The 21-year old flexed his power and brought in 3 important runs to keep the game close, and put the Oilmen in position for the comeback win.
NWI Oilmen play at home on Tuesday against the Indiana Panthers after a much-earned day off on Monday. The Tuesday game has an early start at 11am at Oil City Stadium for Kids Day. Fans are invited to bring young fans to the ballpark, where tickets will be available for youngsters for only $3!
