Oilmen Dominate to Extend Win Streak to 10

Northwest Indiana Oilmen defeated the Griffith Generals 9-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Troy Vosburgh and Quinn Flanagan each pitched for the Oilmen in the game. Vosburgh closed the game on a strikeout to secure the win.

The bottom of the lineup was strong for the Oilmen. Zamaurion Hatcher, Aidan Thaxton, and Ryan Groberski combined for seven of the team's 14 hits in their victory. They scored two runs and drove in four.

An error put the Oilmen on the board in the top of the first.

The Oilmen added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Isaiah White hit a sacrifice fly, and Emmanuel Scott doubled, each scoring one run.

Flanagan earned the win for Northwest Indiana Oilmen. They gave up five hits and zero runs over eight innings, striking out three and walking one. Cayden Gothrup took the loss for the Griffith Generals. The left-handed pitcher went five innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on 10 hits, striking out four and walking none. Vosburgh tossed one inning of no-run ball for the Oilmen in relief. The righty gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

The Oilmen got the bats hot and amassed 14 hits in the game. Groberski led the team with four hits in four at-bats out of the nine-hole. Johnny Wendling, Aidan Thaxton, and Ryan Groberski each drove in two runs for Northwest Indiana Oilmen. Jalen House and Scott each collected multiple hits for the Oilmen.

Connor Jerkatis led the Generals with two hits in four at bats. The Generals turned two double plays in the game.

Ryan Groberski was selected as the White Castle player of the game. Groberski led the way by getting on base all five times, as well as going 4-4 with 2 RBI. Buck came through in a big way for the team, and helped the side get their 10th win in a row.

Next up for the Northwest Indiana Oilmen is a game Tuesday as they host the Miracle at 7:10pm. This is due to the Sunday contest being canceled after being unable to secure umpires. The game can be watched on Facebook, X, JedTV, and RSN.
