Oilmen Sweep Doubleheader From Foresters
The Northwest Indiana Oilmen rode clutch offensive production in Game 1, then great pitching in Game 2 to beat the Foresters twice, 7-6 in eight innings, and 2-1 in seven innings on Saturday at Oil City Stadium.

In Game 1, The Oilmen took a 5-0 lead thanks to three runs on five hits plus two errors in the fourth that chased starter Brock Borgeson. But Danny Pobereyko, who was cruising to that point, faltered in the fifth as Rockford sent 11 men to the plate and tied the game at 5-5.

The Foresters pushed across the go-ahead run and chased Pobereyko in the sixth. But down to their last out in the seventh, Tyler Baar ripped a single to right to tie the game. In the eighth, Gerrad Rohan led off with a single and stole second before being sacrificed to third, then driven in on a sacrifice fly by Joe Houlihan for the walk-off win, the 50th in franchise history.

In Game 2, it was the right arm of Brett Schneider (2-3) that carried the club. Winless since May 31, Schneider went 6 and one-third innings, giving up only four hits and one walk while striking out seven in his finest outing of the summer. The Foresters were able to get the tying run to third in the seventh, but Matt Pobereyko shut the door for his third save of the year.

Standings Watch
With DuPage County’s win over Southland last night, the Oilmen now sit one game back of the Hounds in second place. The Snipes follow them at 1.5 games back, followed by the Vikings at 2.5 games back. DuPage hosts Chicago, while Southland is idle today.
