The Northwest Indiana Oilmen are the class of the Northern League heading into the All-Star break. The Oilmen sit at 19-5, and they are winning big. The Oilmen average over 9 runs a game while holding opponents to 4. The Oilmen hold a +108 run differentialo, significantly better than second place with +24. The Oilmen are one of the best teams at home in the league this year, boasting an impressive 12-2 record at Oil City Stadium. The Oilmen's dominance resulted in 8 All-Star selections. A larger part of the team being so tough this year is the massive 67 extra base hits produced by the hitters. This includes 56 doubles. The Oilmen have also been burning up the basepaths with 75 stolen bases. Tyler Zunkel reflected on the excellent first half for the team. "I think it is pretty apparent the talent we have, trying to come out this second half and hit teams in the mouth first. The games we have lost we went down big early and I think we need to put a greater emphasis in this second half of jumping out on them right away. We have to stay aggressive and keep taking cuts". The Oilmen will continue action on Thursday against the Indiana Panthers at home for Community Night.
