Oilmen Release 2014 Schedule11/04/2013 3:58 PM - Whiting, Ind. – November 4, 2013 – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen have released their schedule for the 2014 Midwest Collegiate League season. The season will begin on Tuesday, May 27 with a rematch of the 2013 MCL Championship Series as the Oilmen host the Southland Vikings at Oil City Stadium. The Oilmen will play 42 league games this season as they vie for their third consecutive trip to the MCL finals and second league title in the last three years. The team is expected to add several nonleague, exhibition games to boost the number of games to approximately 45. After opening up against the Vikings, Northwest Indiana will host the Lexington Snipes on Wednesday, May 28 before visiting the Joliet Admirals for the first road trip of the year on May 30. The Rockford Foresters, an original member of the Midwest Collegiate League, have rebranded as the Admirals after playing as a road team in 2013. The Admirals will call Joliet Junior College home this season. The Midwest Collegiate League All-Star Game will return to Oil City Stadium, with the Oilmen slated to host the event on July 9. The Oilmen will play 23 regular season, MCL home games this summer. The Oilmen will play a scheduled double header to close out the regular season on July 26 as they visit the Lexington Snipes. Northwest Indiana will take on Southland and Chicago nine times each, while holding eight head-to-head meetings with Joliet, Lexington and DuPage County. The postseason is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 29 with the 2014 MCL Championship Series getting underway on Friday, August 1. |
