The Oilmen suffered a 6-3 loss to DuPage County in the 100th game in franchise history on Thursday. Inside the Oilmen

Nate Schneider is off to a hot start offensively, hitting .438 through six games. He has reached safely in all six games and holds a five-game hitting streak.

Inside the Lakers
The Michigan City Lakers roster features a slew of local talent, including Chesterton graduate K.J. Zelenika, Munster grad Mark Dye, Chesterton’s Spencer Sutton, Portage alum Zach Thorn and Andrean’s Joe Plesac, among others. The Lakers roster also includes South Central product Travis Minix, who played professionally in the Phillies organization and pitched with Bridgeport of the independent Atlantic League in 2013. Minix and Oilmen manager Justin Huisman pitched in the same Double-A Southern League game in 2002.

About the Matchup
Friday’s game between the Oilmen and Lakers in a nonleague matchup between two Northwest Indiana teams. This is the first meeting of the year between the two squads and the second season that the Oilmen have played against the Lakers. A year ago, Northwest Indiana took five of the seven meetings, dropping the first and last matchups of the year. The Oilmen and Lakers will meet three times this season.
