Dean Pappas has joined the Oilman as the Director of Marketing and Promotions. With over eighteen years of experience, Pappas has developed message strategy and positioned organizations in the marketplace through creative direction, copywriting, and brand management. His expertise includes planning and implemented marketing strategies for cross promotion tying in television, radio, print, special events, outdoor, and the Internet.

In addition to a traditional marketing background, Pappas brings over five years of operations experience with Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire where he has executed special events and promotions, game day support for marketing, sales, media, and trainers, coordinated premium and coupon distribution, pre-game and half-time fan activities, and post-game press conferences and autograph signings.

Dean, a Chicago native, resides in Chicago, a famously hardcore sports city. His father, a former minor-league umpire, instilled in Dean a respect and passion for down-to-earth, fundamental baseball. Pappas plans on tapping into this love of baseball and his marketing knowledge to make Oilmen baseball a viable and affordable entertainment option for the people of Indiana.

The Northwest Indiana Oilmen, one of eight teams in the 3-year-old Midwest Collegiate League, will start its inaugural season June 2, 2012 with its home opener at Oil City Stadium. The MCL is a pre-minor league summer wood-bat baseball league with teams ranging throughout the Central Midwest, including Rockford, DeKalb County, Will County and the Chicago Southland.
