Northwest Indiana Oilmen’s Eichmann Strikes Out Nine In Win

Whiting, Indiana – June 19, 2012 – The Northwest Indiana Oilmen contributed to the woes of the Rockford Foresters, handing Rockford their sixth consecutive loss, while adding to a streak of their own… five straight wins.

Oilmen pitcher Joey Eichmann threw seven scoreless innings, striking out nine, to carry the Northwest Indiana Oilmen (13-3) to a 6-2 victory over the Rockford Foresters (3-12) at Oil City Stadium. Brandon Krieg reached base three times, with two singles, one run scored, and one RBI.

Rockford’s Joe Ross ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. Ross lasted five innings, walking eight, striking out two, and allowing five runs.

Thursday night, the Oilmen look to continue their hot streak on the road at the Illinois Lincolns (8-6). On Friday, June 22, the Oilmen return home to take on the Southland Vikings (5-8). Every Friday game at Oil City Stadium is family night, where kids under twelve get free admission.

The Northwest Indiana Oilmen, one of eight teams in the 3-year-old Midwest Collegiate League, a pre-minor league summer wood-bat baseball league with teams ranging throughout the Central Midwest, including Rockford, DeKalb County, Will County and the Chicago Southland.
