Division Leading Northwest Indiana Lose Second Straight

Whiting, Indiana – June 23, 2012 –Oil City Stadium played host to the top two teams in the MCL, as the MCL North division leading DeKalb County Liners (12-6), took on the first place MCL South Northwest Indiana Oilmen (14-5). 

The DeKalb County Liners came out the gate fast, scoring five runs in the first inning, en route to an 8-4 win on Saturday. Beau Wallace put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the DeKalb County Liners. He doubled in the first and sixth innings and singled in the eighth inning.

Brandon Krieg paced the Northwest Indiana Oilmen at the plate. Krieg went 3-5 and driving in one. Krieg doubled in the second inning and singled in the first and ninth innings.

 

Luke Harrison got the Liners win, running his season record to 3-0. He allowed four runs over seven innings, struck out two, walked three and surrendered seven hits. Danny Britt took his first of the year, lasting six innings, while walking two, striking out six, and allowing five runs.

 

The Oilmen are on the road Sunday at the Illinois Lincolns.  They return home on Wednesday, June 27th to take on the second place Will County Crackerjacks. First pitch is at 7:10 PM.

The Northwest Indiana Oilmen, one of eight teams in the 3-year-old Midwest Collegiate League, a pre-minor league summer wood-bat baseball league with teams ranging throughout the Central Midwest, including Rockford, DeKalb County, Will County and the Chicago Southland.
