Week in Review: Two Up, Two Down for Oilmen in Week 306/22/2015 1:00 PM - The Northwest Indiana Oilmen ended their third week of the season with a 2-2 mark in the week to improve their record to 8-4. The DuPage County Hounds jumped on a 4-2 lead on Tuesday, but the Oilmen were able to rally and score three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Joe Jumonville tied the game with a RBI single, Fred Smart gave the team the lead with his RBI single and Xavier Warren’s RBI groundout proved to be the insurance run the Oilmen needed as the Oilmen were able to win 6-5 over the Hounds.
In the second meeting this week, the Oilmen faced the Hounds on Thursday in Lemont. This time the Oilmen got a taste of their own medicine as the Hounds rallied in the seventh and eighth inning to defeat the Oilmen 4-3. Oilmen starting pitcher Keith Mahler went five strong only allowing two runs. Warren went 3-for-5 for the Oilmen with an RBI. The Hounds were able to get to Richard Yelnick in the ninth inning and close the door with Nick McKinney.
The Oilmen had their first doubleheader of the season June 20 as the team took on the Snipes with one game being a make-up game from June 17. The Oilmen took game one, 6-1. Jordan Lewis hit his third home run of the season in the fourth inning to give the Oilmen the early 2-0 lead. Tyler Sroczynski had a big game for the team going 3-4 with an RBI. Oilmen starting pitcher Enrique Zamora tied the single-game strikeout record for the team with 10 strikeouts as Zamora went six strong only allowing one run.
The Oilmen return to action on June 23 as the team takes travels to Joliet to take on the Admirals. After Tuesday’s game the Oilmen have a five-game homestand starting on Wednesday against the Admirals. |
