Bottom of the Ninth Heroics Help Extend Oilmen Win Streak To Six07/16/2012 11:57 PM - Bottom of the Ninth Heroics Help Extend Oilmen Win Streak To Six The Northwest Indiana Oilmen extended their win streak to six games with a bottom of the ninth, 6-5 win over the Chicago Zephyrs. The victory helped the Oilmen keep pace with the first place Will County Crackerjacks. The Oilmen jumped out to a big lead in the first inning scoring five earned runs, forcing Chicago to chip away at that lead and eventually tie the game in the top of the ninth off reliever Jack Cinoman. But in the bottom half of the inning, Bennett Oliver hit a shot over the right field fence to give the Oilmen their second straight walk off victory. Oliver went 2 for 2 with three walks. Chris Rudenga, Kyle Wood, and Billy Miller also had two hit nights. Tyler Hansen contributed with a two RBI double, going 1 for 3 on the night. Despite allowing the tying run in the top of the ninth, Cinoman picked up his third victory of the season. Andy Wellwerts made his Oilmen debut pitching two innings in relief for starter Danny Britt. Wellwerts struck out five and allowed no runs. The Oilmen go on the road Monday night for three games and return home on Thursday to take on the Southland Vikings, with the first pitch at 7:10 PM.
