Lincoln will first be playing ball at the University of Illinois before he makes the trip up north to Whiting, Indiana to join the Oilmen. Lincoln, who redshirted his freshmen season two years ago, was a redshirt freshman last year and was hitless in six plate appearances for the Fighting Illini. As a redshirt sophomore, Lincoln should be looking for more playing time both in the batter’s box and behind the plate. Before suiting up for the Illini, this 5'11 right-handed hitting catcher attended Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois. While there, Lincoln earned All-conference honors in 2009 and helped Neuqua Valley to an impressive third-place finish at the IHSA baseball tournament in 2008. Lincoln should provide some extraordinary defense as well because during his time in high school he threw out 77% of all would-be base-stealers. Fans in Whiting should be excited for this upcoming 2012 inaugural season in the Midwest Collegiate League and Lincoln could be one of the many bright spots on the diamond this summer for the Oilmen.
