Northwest Indiana Oilmen’s Four Hits Enough to Secure Win Over Chicago

Both the Northwest Indiana Oilmen (26-14) and the Chicago Zephyrs (14-24) had scoring chances on Wednesday, but it was the Oilmen that capitalized on them, pulling off a 4-3 win at Oil City Stadium.

Craig Austgen led the Oilmen's offensive threat, getting on base three times in the game. Austgen scored one run, with an RBI, as he tripled in the third inning and singled in the seventh.

NWI’s Nik Mason held the Chicago Zephyrs hitless over three innings, allowing no earned runs, walking three and striking out six. Andy Wellwerts got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Wellwerts allowed three runs over six innings, struck out five, walked three and gave up six hits.

Chicago’s Alex Brown took the loss. Brown lasted six innings, walked seven, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
