Yelnick named MCL Pitcher of the Week The Midwest Collegiate League has announced its Players of the Week for the fourth week of the season. The MCL Hitter of the Week is Dane Toppel. Toppel (Eastern Illinois / South Elgin, Ill.) hit a .631 for the DuPage County Hounds this week. He drove in a pair of runs and scored six of his own while finding a variety of ways to get on base. Toppel walked six times and was hit by a pitch four times to go with his 12 hits, bringing his on-base percentage up to .529. The MCL Pitcher of the Week is the Northwest Indiana Oilmen’s Richard Yelnick. Yelnick (Trinity Christian / New Lenox, Ill.) pitched six scoreless innings to help Northwest Indiana secure a win over the first place Bloomington Bobcats Thursday. He gave up only three hits and struck out eight in a 17-1 win for the Oilmen.
