Doubleheader between Oilmen, Vikings canceled due to field conditions07/30/2016 2:34 PM - Whiting, Ind. – July 30, 2016 – Storms hit Hap Bruno Field on Saturday, leaving the playing surface unsafe for the scheduled doubleheader between the Oilmen and Southland Vikings. With the Midwest Collegiate League playoffs set to begin on Tuesday, Saturday’s games will not be made up. The DuPage County Hounds have secured the No. 1 seed and their second straight MCL regular season title. The Hounds will play the Bobcats in the opening round of the postseason beginning on Tuesday night at the Lemont Sports Complex. The Oilmen will play the regular season finale on Sunday against the Joliet Admirals at Wayne L. King Junior Field beginning at 1 p.m. The winner of the game will finish in second in the league standings and host Games 1 and 3 of the best-of-three first round playoff series between the Oilmen and Admirals, which begins on Tuesday night at either Wayne L. King Junior Field or Oil City Stadium. |
