Jaksich to bring more experience for second stint with Oilmen03/05/2017 8:48 PM - WHITING, Ind. – Luke Jaksich, freshman pitcher, from Saint John, Ind., has signed to play his second season with the Oilmen this summer. “It was real fun, had a good time and it was a great experience before going to college,” Jaksich said. “Won the championship last year and hope to win again this year.” J aksich was a vital starter for the Oilmen during their title run in 2016. “Competing every day and I got to learn a lot from my mistakes,” Jaksich said. “Enright helped me and had me as a guy to count on and it made me become a better player and pitcher.” Currently a freshman at Saint Joseph’s College but Saint Joseph’s College is closing its doors in May but good thing for Jaksich, he has committed to Ball State for next season. “I got a lot of calls from schools like Northern Kentucky, Ball State, Western Michigan, Quincy and Purdue,” Jaksich said. “Ball State’s coaching staff called me and said there was an opening and got to know me and I decided to commit.” Before going to Saint Joseph’s College, Jaksich was a multi letter-winner from Andrean High School. Jaksich won two state championship with the 59ers. Jaksich went 4-0 with a 5.20 ERA in 36.1 innings of work, Jaksich said to improve on that this coming summer. “I want to have fun, compete real well and become a better pitcher,” Jaksich said. |
