WHITING, Ind. -- The Northwest Indiana Oilmen will look to carry over some momentum from yesterday's walk-off victory as NWI hosts the Bloomington Bobcats on Saturday.
The Bobcats (3-5) will take on the Oilmen (6-6) at Oil City Stadium with game time scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Northwest Indiana Oilmen are coming off a 9-8 walk-off victory against the Joliet Admirals on June 9. The Admirals had an early 6-0 lead but the Oilmen rallied and Noah Davis (Portage, Ind./Benedictine) smashed his second home run of the season to right to tie the game at 7 in the seventh inning. Joliet would answer right back in the eighth, getting the run right back but NWI would not give in as Tyler Sroczynski crushed his first home run of the season to left to tie it at 8-8. In the 10th inning, NWI load the bases before Amir Wright (Griffith, Ind./Saint Joseph's/Kentucky Wesleyan) roped a single to left scoring Will Kulcher (Crown Point, Ind.) from third.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
The Bloomington Bobcats are 3-5 so far this season and coming off a 6-2 victory against the 9-7 victory against the Admirals. The Bobcats are led by Jack Butler at the plate, who is hitting .474 so far this season, with seven hits, a home run, four runs scored and three RBI. On the mound, the Bobcats are led by Jackson Bronke, who is 0-1 but also has thrown 18 innings, owns a 2.50 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, throwing 31 strikeouts and issuing only five walks.
SERIES HISTORY
The Bobcats lead the all-time series between the two clubs, 5-3, with the Oilmen winning the most recent meeting on June 1, when NWI won 6-2. Hunter Clark (Granger, Ind./Eastern Illinois) dazzled on the mound, picking up the no-decision, going six strong innings, allowing only two earned, issuing three walks and striking out 12. Wright went 4-5 for NWI and Dashon Moore (South Holland, Ill./South Suburban) went 3-5 in the win.
