WHITING, Ind. -- The Northwest Indiana Oilmen will host the Southland Vikings at Oil City Stadium Thursday on Miller Pint Night.

LAST TIME OUT
The Northwest Indiana Oilmen defeated the Bloomington Bobcats, 9-8, on June 21 at
Oil City Stadium. In the victory, Tommy Farrell (Illinois-Chicago/Chicago, Ill.) went
3-6 at the plate and driving in two of the nine Oilmen runs. New Oilmen player Daniel
Torres (Saint Leo/South Bend, Ind.) went 2-4 in his debut including an RBI double.
On the mound Max Franklin (Heartland CC/Chicago Heights, Ill.) lasted just three
innings and allowing four earned runs. Brian Jestice (Evansville/Hoffman Estates, Ill.)
rebounded after a rough start against Bloomington on June 15. Jestice threw four strong
scoreless innings while striking out four.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
The Vikings were defeated 6-3 by Joliet on June 21. The Vikings have been struggling
as of late, dropping seven out of eight since June 9. The only victory they have during
that stretch is a 9-3 victory on June 17 against the Oilmen. The Vikings are led by JackGainer and Trey Polewski, both hitting over .370.
OILMEN LEADERS
The Oilmen are led by Amir Wright (Griffith, Ind./Kentucky Wesleyan), who is
hitting .409, 27 hits, four doubles, two triples, 16 runs scored and 15 RBI. On the
mound, NWI is led by Blake Marks (Gardner, Ill./Lewis), who owns a 1.06 ERA in 17
innings pitched, a 3-0 record with one save and has 22 strikeouts.
SERIES HISTORY
The Oilmen lead the all-time series between the two clubs, 27-26, including
Southland winning the most recent meeting 9-3 at Oil City Stadium on June 17.
