WHITING, Ind. -- The Northwest Indiana Oilmen will look to continue their winning ways as NWI hosts the Joliet Admirals on Friday.
The Admirals (4-12) will take on the Oilmen (13-9) at Oil City Stadium starting at 7:10 p.m. Friday.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
For just the second time this season, the Northwest Indiana Oilmen defeated the
Southland Vikings, 5-4 on June 22 at Oil City Stadium. In the bout with the Vikings, NWI would notch 10 hits, in back of a strong pitching performance by Joe Graziano (Butler/Schererville, Ind.) The victory would be the Oilmen’s third consecutive, one shy of their season high win streak of four. The win would also propel the Oilmen into first place in the MCL, surpassing the DuPage County Hounds.
SCOUTING THE ADMIRALS
The Joliet Admirals currently stand at 4-12. However, they have one two consecutive games and three out of their last five. Leading the Admirals this season at the plate by catcher Sean Arnold. Arnold, in thirteen games, is sporting a .478 avg and has an on base percentage of .564. Pitching has been a problem for Joliet, currently possessing a team ERA of 6.10.
SCOUTING THE OILMEN
The Oilmen are led by Amir Wright (Griffith, Ind./Kentucky Wesleyan), who is
hitting .408, 29 hits, five doubles, two triples, 17 runs scored and 16 RBI. On the mound, NWI is led by Graziano is sporting an ERA of 0 and has a record of 3-0.
SERIES HISTORY
The Oilmen lead the all-time series between the two clubs, 24-9, including
Northwest Indiana winning the most recent meeting 5-4 on June 16.
