 By: Joe Loburgio, Contributing Writer - The Northwest Indiana Oilmen are proud to announce that they have added infielder Brandon Krieg to their 2012 roster. Krieg will join the Oilmen after he completes his freshman season at Purdue University in the spring.
Before attending Purdue, Krieg went to Lawrence Central High School in Indiana. It was here where he showed how talented he could be on the baseball field. In his senior season last year, Krieg hit .495 with 14 extra base hits. After that season he was selected to the Indianapolis Area Super Team, garnered all-county honors, and was named to the all-conference team.
As a junior the year prior, he batted .360 with 13 extra base hits and displayed his speed stealing 18 bases in 18 attempts and those numbers helped him earn all-conference honors this year as well. As for team success, Krieg helped lead Lawrence North to three consecutive county titles from 2009-11 and a pair of Conference Indiana championships.
Based on the numbers he had in high school, Krieg looks to be a leadoff type hitter that hits for average and possesses great speed. Oilmen fans should enjoy watching Krieg contribute to the team this upcoming season.
